Information about why Heliocare 90 is now called 50+:
Heliocare® Gel SPF90 packaging is now labelled as SPF50+. Firstly please be assured that it is the same product and formulation, and classifies as an SPF90 and provides the same very high protection.
The latest EU regulations states that “SPFs above 50 do not substantially increase the UV protection”. For this reason COLIPA (The European Cosmetics Association) recommends that SPF values above 50 are not stated, merely indicated by a +. To classify as providing SPF50+ very high protection COLIPA recommend that the SPF is ≥ 60 and that UVA protection is at least ⅓ of the UVB protection. This is shown by the UVA symbol on the packaging.
It is still legal to state the SPF90 classification and the Heliocare® Cream SPF90 will continue with this labeling until later or early next year.
